The Ace section is looking very lonely at the moment so I thought I might step in and change that with a very important announcement.

In January 2009 I purchased from Gerry of Hawk Cars Ltd a replica Ace Kit adapted to take the super smooth BMW 2.5 litre engine.

This evening Valerie and I are drinking champagne.

Why? Today I attended the DVLA test centre in Norwich with my completed car. And guess what? It passed.

Brilliant!  Well done Byron and Valerie!  Interesting that the 'oldest' replica in the club will have the smoothest engine.  Are you coming to Ettington in it?

Thank you for your comments folks, look forward to meeting up on Saturday.  I thought it would be the newest car in the group notwithstanding that the Kit was delivered in January 2009 and the tyres are probably past there sell by date. The super smooth engine bit was just a wind up, I know how agricultural these American V8's can sound ?

FYI another piece of good news received today is that the 289 Hawk has been cleared for IVA, just have to phone them and make the appointment.

Life just gets better and better
