I think they’ve taken the Daytona development history and applied it to the GT40.

The Daytona was a dead end really, though - Ford had moved on to the GT40 by the end of '64 and had little interest in Cobras - or Shelby, fairly soon after, for that matter.  That said, I'll bet there's little or no mention of Lola in this film.  Once again, we get the CS marketing machine in action!

By that I meant the very short development time, which related to the Daytona not the GT40 as I understand it.

The Daytona was just a quick lash up on what was already a very outdated car and was already on borrowed time.

Fortunately, the competition was in the same boat. 👍🏻
